The decision about where you wish to live as you move into adulthood can be full of possibilities but also a time full of questions and worries. Working with FACSFLA to determine what options may be available and to get the support you need is important and should happen with as much early planning a possible.
If you are preparing to go to University or College discuss with your worker as part of your planning if you wish to live in school residence with a meal plan offered through your school. We are here to help with budgeting and questions you may have about payments and associated deferral fees for these options.
If you are looking for a roommate(s) there may be other youth we know of who would also be looking or we can assist you in looking through housing information and advertisements: many college and university students, and other youth in the community are also looking for roommates. There are also options for housing resources in the community:
Shelters & Housing Services
Kingston Home Base Housing
Kingston Youth Shelter
Youth Habilitation Quinte
Tipi Moza/Iron Homes – First Nation
Landlord and Tenant Board
When you need extra support to meet your basic needs:
Good Food Basket – KFLA Public Health
Food Cents Cookbook
The Poverty Challenge – Directory of Resources
Kingston Food Bank – Partners in Mission
Nappanee Food Bank – Salvation Army Church 135 Mill Street West, Nappanee
St. Vincent de Paul Society
